I’ve lived in San Francisco (SF) for 4 months now and I like it! I must say that I miss NYC dearly. I miss my friends the most. It’s weird that when you’re there, living in the same city, and you don’t see them that much that you don’t miss them, but move across the country and you do. I guess it’s the easy access to pals and last minute run-ins with friends that I miss. Plus, everything is open at all hours in NYC. Places seem to close around 6pm in SF.
SF does have a great vibe. It’s very soothing living here, I often say that I feel like I’m on vacation. Work is good—I am, yet again, blessed to be surrounded by really cool peeps. It’s a small agency and everyone is very respectful. That was the thing about NYC agencies that I didn’t like. Egotistical, two-faced, untrustworthy people…by people you thought you could trust! Ugh. No good. Though, a few of my favorite people are former coworkers of places I used to work. Ya gotta take the good with the bad.
My improv break has ended! It was a pretty short break of only a few months, but a much needed one. I’ve just joined up with an improv team out here called HoboFish. They’re good cats, positive people, I like that. I’ve also gotten to know a few folks from Crisis Hopkins, more good people. I’ve been taking voice over (VO) classes at Voice One and I really enjoy it. Terry McGovern is freakin’ amazing, I’m hoping to study with him more in both traditional theater acting and VO.
I’m also letting more of my nerd side come out with my interest in crystals and making jewelry. I’ve signed up for a jewelry making class at the Sharon Art Studio in Golden Gate Park. I’m pretty sure that place is haunted, but I’m still excited about the class. I’m also going to a few meetings with the Gem and Mineral Society of SF. I’ve been researching the science and technology about crystals and minerals, I’m a big ol’ dork, but I think it’s neat!
My pets are great. I’m pretty sure I’m never ever ever going to have another cat again though. My cat, Lillian is awesome but she’s IN my FACE all the Time!! It’s like I can never please her! I pet and play and she’s happy for 2 seconds, then she gets miffed. It seems like all she wants is to lay on my lap, which is fine but really hard to do when I’m working on stuff. My dog Emmie is the tops. She now comes to work with me everyday. There are about 5 other dog owners here at work also bring their dogs to work. It rocks. I ride my scooter in and Emmie sits very calmly in her little backpack on my pack. Super cute.
I’d like to recommend folks to check out Craniosacral Therapy. I’m also doing research on the technique, but I’m finding that it’s been helpful to me in working through my car accident injuries. Not every session I’ve had is the same and sometimes I leave more sore than others, but I feel that there is progress and things are changing for the better. This is where I go:
